๐ Traveling this summer?

๐ Bonjour from Montreal!
I've spent the past few days exploring the city at a leisurely pace and have barely scratched the surface. The city is buzzing with the Canadian Grand Prix taking place here this weekend, so I'll be leaving just in time. ;)
Yesterday I finally got to visit the wonderful Jean Talon Marche with journalist Ivy Lerner-Frank, who introduced me to some of her regular market vendors and favorite stops to shop and eat. (I'm working on eating my weight in fromage!)
I was so impressed with the market area and Petite Italie nearby, and I've also loved the variety of ethnic stores and restaurants around the city. At the end of the day, I capped it off with one of the best pupusas I've ever had.
Today, I'll be catching VIA Rail to Quebec City for the TBEX Conference. This is actually the third TBEX that has brought me to Canada - the first was Vancouver way back in 2011 and in 2013 it was held in Toronto. A return visit will definitely be necessary, and someday I hope to take the Canadian which is a four day trip from coast to coast.

๐ Next stop, Quebec City!
(As always, if you want to follow along, the highlights will be over on Instagram.)
Do you have questions about train travel? I'm working on some posts and freebies to help with that!

Destination Inspiration โ
Ivy compiled a list of Montreal's Best Restaurants which I've bookmarked and we got to enjoy lunch at San Gennaro together, a seasonal slice of pizza al taglio called "specktacular" because it featured asparagus and speck.
โPuสปuwai Haokila: The Story of How Hawaiสปi Shaped Modern Music, a PBS Hawaiโi documentary, reveals how Hawaiian musicians, through their unique sound and invention of the steel guitar, helped shape blues, country and bluegrass. Note: If you're in the US, please consider calling your representatives to urge them not to cut funding for public broadcasting. The bill is now in the Senate for consideration. Scripts and contact info for your reps can be found here.
Take a tour of Greek sparkling wines (with helpful infographics!) with Andrea from the Quirky Cork.

๐ Howdy from Milwaukee, Something you might not know about me: before I started my website, I was once a food tour guide in Honolulu! I got to spend each tour guiding hungry visitors around Honolulu, sharing the history of family-run businesses and snacks from my childhood. My official job title with Hawaii Food Tours was "Malasada Maven" We would eat our way around Chinatown while weaving in stories about local culture, history, and ingredients, ending up on a sweet note with malasadas at...
๐ A few musings from Milwaukeeโฆ People worried about my safety when I lived in Turkiye, considering it was led by an autocratic president, with hostile policies towards womenโs rights, LGBTQ+, immigration, and the economy. Political opponents have been jailed and protests suppressed. The government controls the news so it's possible for a large portion of the population to be unaware of the severityโฆ It's easy to see how quickly civil liberties can be eroded. But itโs also increasingly...
๐ Hello from Milwaukee! Only two people guessed the location correctly in my Instagram stories when I posted last week from the beautiful Milwaukee Art Museum. I was so inspired by the gorgeous movable architecture of the building itself. If youโve seen the Oculus in Downtown NYC, you may have recognized the same designer, Santiago Calatrava. The beautiful โwingsโ of the museum span 217 feet (66 meters) and mobilize to open and close fully at various points in the day! It's so beautiful to...
