๐Ÿฆƒ Turkish food on Turkey Day in Hawaii?

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hello from Honolulu!

I wrapped up my time on Maui with an early Thanksgiving with my family (including a special trek upcountry for our favorite pumpkin pie from Komoda Bakery) to cap off a few weeks of delicious memories. I hope that you and your loved ones also had a nice holiday!

Next I headed to Honolulu for a special Thanksgiving dinner invitation to finally try Istanbul Hawaii! I've been following Chef Ahu & Chef Nili eagerly from Turkiye, and watched as their restaurant came to life. Over the years, they've picked up many accolades and I couldn't wait to try for myself.
โ€‹
See my friend @Melissa808's reel about the special dishes we tried:

Now itโ€™s another Black Friday and this year I decided at the last minute to discount Google Map Magic again to $1 this year. Itโ€™s a flash sale in order to show off the new update and audio companion that Iโ€™ve added recently!

(If you have the older version and havenโ€™t received an email to get access to the audiobook yet, just hit reply and let me know! ๐ŸŽง)

โ€‹
Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday and thatโ€™s really the โ€œholidayโ€ that Iโ€™d shop, if any. Itโ€™s the small businesses and local multi-generational institutions that need our support, not the billionaires!
โ€‹
But just in case you DO need to shop for something, Iโ€™ve got a list of my favorite Black Friday deals for travel, local deals in Hawaii, and for business-related products that I use. I'll keep it updated throughout the weekend as I hear of other deals.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Will you be shopping this weekend or have you cut back or stopped shopping altogether? I love learning about my readers and I do read and respond to all replies, so hit reply and tell me!

I've loved hearing the Hawaiian language spoken in more places since I've been back in the islands. Next I'll be switching to Japanese to prepare for the next two months in Japan.

๐Ÿ‘‹ Greetings from Tokyo! The start of this year has already felt so heavy in many ways, and I know many of us are feeling the need to consciously look for moments of steadiness and light where we can. Itโ€™s said you have to be lucky to get a clear view of Mt. Fuji, so I took it as an good sign when I got this view from the Shinkansen on my way back to Tokyo. For me, being in Japan and spending time connecting with the language and culture over the past few weeks has offered up many moments of...

๐Ÿ‘‹ Greetings from Kyoto! Itโ€™s that liminal space between Christmas and the yearโ€™s end where I often forget which day it is. Do you feel it too? When traveling, this effect can be magnified. Without routine, daily habits can be harder to stick to, and thereโ€™s always something happening, somewhere to go, or someone to meet. This past week in Kyoto was a reminder of how important being social is for me when I travel solo, even at this stage of life. Somewhere in the middle of all the hustle and...

๐Ÿ‘‹ Greetings from Tokyo! It feels like conversations about cost of living are everywhere right now. Housing is more expensive, travel feels harder to justify, and a lot of people are rethinking whatโ€™s actually sustainable. Ten years ago, I shared country-specific cost breakdowns during a long-term trip in order to be transparent about what life on the road actually cost me compared to staying in Hawaii. Iโ€™ve been getting similar questions again lately, so this time around Iโ€™ve been keeping...
