Happy Aloha Friday!
Welcome to this week's roundup of tasty tidbits specially curated for you from Hawaii to Istanbul and everywhere in between...
π Hi Reader,
β
This week I've got an exciting collaboration with Michelle at Intentional Travelers as she gears up for the relaunch of her Google Maps Travel Hacks course, a step-by-step system to help you travel with confidence.
You may know that I'm also a huge Google Maps fan since it's part of my own strategy to avoid tourist trap restaurants when I travel. I love how Michelle's course fills in additional ways to make the most of your maps especially with driving, since I'm usually focused just on the food π and not thinking about navigation.
Traveling savvy with Chicca, Arnaud and the Intentional Travelers in Napoli!
There will be an exclusive early bird discount available when the relaunch opens next week, including a chance to win your own custom Google Map made by yours truly ($59 value) and some other great bonuses. I'll send a quick reminder about it when the relaunch opens, with all the details.

β βLanguage Resources for Travelers
I enjoy learning about other languages through recipes and cookbooks both before and after a trip. For me, food is the easiest way to connect with locals when I travel. Which language are you studying? β
Emily Lush shares her latest guide for Western Georgia, all about the 'Monument Route' β the drive from Kutaisi to Zugdidi and all the wonderful mosaics, memorials, monuments and monasteries you can see along the way. Her guides are so helpful and her photos are always stunning. If youβve never been to Georgia (the country) you will absolutely want to after this.
For Italian food lovers, Chicca's Cooking Club is having a FREE Flour Gnocchi Class next Saturday, April 5th. The live masterclass will be held 10:30am PT / 1:30pm ET / 7:30pm Italy from Bolgheri, Tuscany. I missed the last one (on tiramisu!) and watched the replay - it was so inspiring to see this group of home cooks going through the recipe together. Highly recommended!
Make a difference β
Earlier today there was a 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand, causing buildings to collapse and sadly many reports of deaths and injuries. As usual, World Central Kitchen has mobilized to partner with chefs and organizations on the ground to provide nutritious meals and comfort to the survivors and first responders. Read more about their emergency response and consider a donation to help support their efforts worldwide. (They are also currently mobilizing for the flooding in South Texas and mourning a volunteer killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza.)

π Greetings from my next train adventure, a 13-hour day aboard the Amtrak Northeast Regional train from Richmond, Virginia to Boston, Massachusetts! I've been rediscovering how much I love watching the scenery change out the window of a long-distance train and how much I love the people watching (and eavesdropping!) I can do from inside my roomy seat. I also love a historic old train station, like the Main Street Station (above) in Richmond, VA Iβll be spending the weekend in Boston and then...
π Greetings from somewhere south of DC! Continuing along my East Coast USA train journey, I spent the past week in Washington, DC with Adrienne (@TheHaphazardTraveler). I hadn't been in DC since 2016 and as you can imagine, a LOT has changed since then! One important stop was to visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture. It had just opened when I was there last and the entry tickets were impossible to come by. It was a sobering reminder of dark times in our history...
π Greetings from the Big Apple! It's been a whirlwind since I've been back stateside... I landed in Miami, then started north via the high-speed Brightline train to kick off my flight-free trip up the East Coast. From Florida, we took an overnight train to DC, then the high-speed Acela to New York which arrived at the beautiful Moynihan Train Hall. I was here for my first Women in Travel Summit (WITS) in Downtown NYC, which was a great experience! My focus in the next few months will be on...
