๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Passport to Flavor is finally happening!

๐Ÿ‘‹ Aloha from DC!

The past few weeks I've mostly had my head down, working.
โ€‹
I finally updated my LinkedIn to add my part time role as Community & Operations Manager with She Hit Refresh, a community helping to support women 30+ who want to move abroad.

Don't worry, I've still managed to squeeze in a few adventures too, including testing out a capsule hotel and coworking options near DC's Union Station and finally making it to Josรฉ Andrรฉs's Zaytinya, where I found a Turkish sparkling wine made from the Emir grape, one of my favorites from the Cappadocia region.
โ€‹

And of course, stops at some of my favorite Smithsonian museums, to visit Julia Child's kitchen at the American History Museum and to check in on the dinosaurs at the Museum of Natural History.
โ€‹

Next up: Richmond, Virginia.
โ€‹
I'm taking the train down for my 10th TBEX conference, looking forward to the conference sessions, networking, and celebrating Bourdain Day with friends.

๐Ÿ‘‹ Aloha from DC, Three years ago tomorrow, fires devastated Lahaina and parts of Upcountry Maui. For me, the most meaningful way to mark the day is not just to remember what happened, but to keep paying attention to the people and organizations doing the long work of recovery. If you're on Maui, you can volunteer on a community workday with Mฤlama Kula or take part in Lights for Lahaina rememberance. Elsewhere, you can donate, support trusted Maui organizations, or read and share stories from...

Kalamata Open Market in Messinia, Greece with fresh produce and local vendors

๐Ÿ‘‹ Aloha from DC, This week I finally made it to see The Odyssey. I was looking forward to seeing it, true. But also, three hours of air conditioning in a reclining seat with a giant tub of popcorn? Yes, please! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ™€๐Ÿฟ I still haven't decided what I thought of the film itself, but the scenery took me right back to Greece. They were filming in Messinia while I was staying in Kalamata, so there was plenty of buzz about Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway being spotted around the region. (Sadly, I wasn't...

๐Ÿ‘‹ Aloha from DC! It's been a fun few weeks around here. I took the train to Richmond for the TBEX conference, where I caught up with friends I only get to see once a year and came back with a notebook full of story ideas. In other news, you might remember that earlier this year I was a guest on the Travel the World Confidently podcast. They invited me back, this time to talk all things train travel.
